Consumer prices in Macau experienced a year-on-year increase of 0.25% in June 2025, representing the swiftest acceleration in five months and surpassing the 0.19% rise seen in May. This rise was largely attributed to heightened price increments in sectors such as housing and fuels, which advanced to 0.18% from 0.13% in May, attributed to increased rental prices. Miscellaneous goods and services also saw price growth, rising to 2.05% from 1.62%. Conversely, the rate of price reductions lessened in areas like transport (-1.03% compared to -1.41% previously), clothing and footwear (-2.26% compared to -2.47%), and household furnishings and services (-0.26% compared to -0.44%). On the other hand, there was a decrease in inflationary pressure in categories including food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.20% down from 0.21%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.24% down from 0.63%), and recreation, sport, and culture (3.42% down from 4.14%). Month-on-month, consumer prices edged up by 0.04% in June, rebounding from a 0.05% decrease in May.
