US CPI Soars 0.9% MoM in March, Most Since 2022

The U.S. Consumer Price Index rose 0.9% month-over-month in March 2026, the largest increase since June 2022. This followed a 0.3% rise in February and was in line with market expectations. Energy prices surged 10.9%, driven primarily by a 21.2% jump in gasoline, which accounted for nearly three-quarters of the overall increase and reflected the impact of the war with Iran. The shelter index also advanced, up 0.3%, while food prices were unchanged.
