Trump pushes to revive Keystone XL Pipeline

US President Donald Trump remains fixated on his past projects. After revisiting old plans, he has pushed to restart the Keystone XL Pipeline project. What an interesting turn of events!

Donald Trump insists on reviving the Keystone XL Pipeline project, which would link Canadian oil fields to the US state of Nebraska. The US president is ready to approve the project and begin construction immediately, even though South Bow Corp., the company responsible for the project, has announced its withdrawal. Moreover, part of the required infrastructure has been dismantled, and the expiration of all key permits further complicates matters.

However, the American leader is determined to proceed with construction, even if it means changing contractors. According to Trump, the halting of this project, which he proposed during his first term, was the fault of the Biden administration, which bowed to environmentalists and shut down all operations.

The 2,000-kilometer pipeline project has been the subject of political wrangling for the past decade. Its revival, however, faces complications from growing anti-American sentiment in Canada. This hostility was sparked by Trump's declaration of intent to make Canada a US state, as well as his threats to impose a 25% tariff on all imported goods.

In light of this, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has suggested a possible ban on energy exports, including oil, to the United States. This also creates significant hurdles to the approval of the Keystone XL pipeline project.

Earlier, the White House leader revisited issues surrounding the oil and gas market. He urged US companies to increase production and insisted that OPEC countries quickly ramp up oil output to drastically reduce prices. In addition, Trump vowed to complete the long-stalled Constitution Pipeline that would transport natural gas to New York, even though the developer halted the project back in 2020.
