Slovakia Trade Surplus Widens in July

In July 2025, Slovakia's trade surplus expanded significantly to EUR 246.5 million, up from EUR 92.7 million in the same period the previous year, exceeding market predictions of EUR 100 million. The surge was primarily driven by robust sales in the machinery and transport equipment sector, notably automobiles. Exports to the EU saw a noteworthy rise of 6.6%, while exports to countries outside the EU decreased by 8.6%. On the other hand, imports experienced a modest increase of 1.1%, totaling EUR 8,172.0 million, influenced by higher purchases of various industrial products. Imports from EU countries increased by 4.0%, whereas those from non-EU countries saw a decline of 3.8%. Over the initial seven months of the year, Slovakia's trade surplus experienced a contraction, narrowing to EUR 1,361.7 million from EUR 2,504.0 million during the same period in the previous year.
