The unemployment rate in the Czech Republic rose to 4.5% in August 2025, up from 4.4% in July and marginally surpassing market expectations of 4.4%. This represents the highest unemployment rate since March 2017. The number of unemployed individuals increased by 4,123 from the previous month, reaching a total of 333,624, which is an increase of 47,304 compared to the same month the previous year. Concurrently, job vacancies saw a decline, dropping by 436 from the prior period to a total of 95,117, which is 168,130 fewer than in August of the preceding year.
