Norway Jobseekers at 10-Month Low

The number of people registered as unemployed in Norway fell for the third consecutive month, reaching a seasonally adjusted 62.2 thousand in February 2026, down from a downwardly revised 62.6 thousand in January. This is the lowest level since April 2025 and corresponds to 2.1% of the workforce.

Unemployment changed only marginally across most occupational groups. The lowest jobless rates were recorded in health, nursing and care, academic professions, and teaching, all at 0.9% of the workforce, while the highest rate was in construction, at 3.5%.

Regionally, Troms and Nordland had the lowest unemployment rates, at 1.3% and 1.7%, respectively, whereas Østfold recorded the highest rate, at 3%.

In February, 49,800 vacancies were advertised, equivalent to 1,900 per working day, 3% fewer than a year earlier. On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, the number of fully unemployed people declined to 66.8 thousand in February, from 68.9 thousand in January.
