Portugal’s Economy Edges Higher as Q4 GDP Growth Ticks Up to 0.9% QoQ

Portugal’s economic momentum strengthened slightly in the final stretch of the year, with GDP growth rising to 0.9% quarter-on-quarter in the fourth quarter of 2025, up from 0.8% in the previous quarter. The latest figures, updated on 27 February 2026, point to a modest acceleration in activity as the year closed.

The new data show that the “actual” reading for the fourth quarter of 2025—measuring GDP growth versus the previous quarter—has inched ahead of the pace recorded earlier in the year, when GDP expanded by 0.8% quarter-on-quarter. That earlier “previous” figure captured the change from the third to the fourth quarter of 2025 relative to the quarter before it.

While the improvement is marginal, the step-up from 0.8% to 0.9% quarter-on-quarter underscores a still-resilient Portuguese economy heading into 2026, with growth holding steady and even gaining a touch of speed on a sequential basis.
