German Inflation Edges Higher in February as Consumer Prices Gain 0.2% MoM

Germany’s consumer price inflation ticked up in February 2026, with the month-over-month Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising 0.2%, according to data updated on 27 February 2026. This follows a 0.1% month-over-month increase recorded in January 2026, signaling a modest acceleration in price pressures at the start of the year.

On a month-over-month basis, the February reading reflects how prices evolved compared with January, while the previous figure captures the change in January versus December. The step-up from 0.1% to 0.2% suggests that, although inflation remains relatively contained, underlying momentum in consumer prices is slightly strengthening within the German economy.

Investors and policymakers will be watching subsequent releases to determine whether February’s uptick is a temporary fluctuation or the beginning of a more sustained upward trend in German inflation dynamics.
