China’s Export Growth Hits Seven-Month High, Beats Forecasts

China’s exports jumped 36.3% year-on-year to a record $447.18 billion in September 2026, accelerating from a 25% gain in August and far exceeding market expectations for a 25.5% increase. It was the strongest export growth since February, driven largely by robust global demand for Chinese-made components used in AI data centers.

Exports to the United States rose 9.8% from a year earlier, as trade tensions between the two countries continued to ease. In September, Washington and Beijing announced plans to roll back tariffs on $30 billion worth of goods from each side and to extend their broader trade truce by two months, through January.

Sales to the European Union grew 16.4%, while exports to ASEAN economies climbed 28.7%. Shipments to South Korea and Taiwan surged 39.1% and 37.3%, respectively.
