Poland Inflation Rate at 15-Month High

Poland’s annual inflation rate climbed to 4.1% in September 2026, slightly above the flash estimate and up from 3.4% in August. This was the highest rate since June 2025, driven primarily by faster price growth in housing and utilities (5.1% vs. 4.6% in August) and in transport (17.9% vs. 11.2%). Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco also increased further (6.9% vs. 6.6%).

In contrast, inflation slowed in several categories: recreation, sports, and culture (5.5% vs. 6.5%); restaurants and hotels (4.1% vs. 4.2%); health (4.6% vs. 4.7%); information and communication (3.5% vs. 3.7%); and education (4.5% vs. 5.4%). Inflation remained unchanged at 2.4% for personal hygiene, social protection, and other goods and services.

Deflation in clothing and footwear intensified (-3.7% vs. -2.9%), while the decline in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages moderated (-0.4% vs. -0.9%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.7% in September, following a 0.3% increase in August.
