In March 2025, Finland experienced an increase in its unemployment rate, reaching 10.1%, up from 9% during the same month the previous year, marking the highest unemployment rate since May 2024. This surge is attributed to a rise of 31,000 in the number of unemployed individuals, totaling 285,000, while the number of employed individuals fell by 12,000 to 2.546 million. However, a positive development was noted in the youth sector, where the unemployment rate for those aged 15-24 decreased to 25.3%, a reduction of 0.7 percentage points from the previous year. Additionally, the participation rate among individuals aged 15 to 74 slightly increased to 68% from 67.8% a year earlier. Meanwhile, the employment rate for individuals aged 20 to 64 declined from 76.1% to 75.6%.
