In June 2025, Thailand experienced a notable expansion in its trade surplus, which increased to USD 1.06 billion from USD 0.22 billion observed in the same month the previous year, primarily due to exports surpassing imports. Exports rose by 15.5% compared to the same period last year, showing a deceleration from the significant 18.4% growth in May and falling short of the anticipated 18.7% increase. Despite this, exports have shown growth for the twelfth consecutive month, spurred by exporters hastening shipments in anticipation of potential US tariff hikes set to take effect on August 1. Concurrently, imports saw a growth of 13.1%, a decrease from the 18% rise noted in May, marking the thirteenth consecutive month of import growth and undershooting market predictions of a 17.75% rise.
