In July 2025, France's business climate indicator remained unchanged at 96 for the third consecutive month, marking the lowest point since February and situated below the long-term average of 100. Stability in sentiment was evident across various sectors: both construction and services maintained a level of 96. However, the manufacturing sector experienced a slight decrease in morale, slipping from 97 to 96, affected by reduced production levels and a decline in foreign order volumes. Confidence in the retail trade sector also declined to 98 from 99 due to weakened order intentions. Conversely, the wholesale trade sector emerged as a positive area, witnessing an increase in confidence to 97 from 94 in May, buoyed by stronger previous sales and improved foreign deliveries. Additionally, the employment climate experienced a modest decline to 97 from 98, primarily attributed to a decrease in staffing projections, particularly within services that do not include temporary roles.
