The annual inflation rate in Macau increased to 0.47% in September 2025, reaching its peak since January 2025, and marking an uptick from 0.27% in the previous month. This acceleration was primarily fueled by more rapid price increases in several sectors: housing and fuels saw an increase from 0.33% to 0.37%, food and non-alcoholic beverages rose from 0.44% to 0.56%, recreation and culture escalated from 2.45% to 2.81%, health went up from 0.58% to 0.63%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco advanced from 0.69% to 0.89%, and education climbed from 1.27% to 1.67%. Additionally, there was a rebound in transport prices, which rose from a decline of 1.27% to a positive 0.44%. The decline in clothing and footwear prices also moderated, slowing from a drop of 2.09% to 1.43%. Conversely, the growth rate for miscellaneous goods and services decelerated from 1.54% to 1.14%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices experienced a modest increase of 0.1% in September, following a 0.11% rise in August.
