Portugal’s consumer confidence index edged down for the second consecutive month in February 2026, reaching -15.3 from -14.7 in January, marking the deepest level of pessimism since October of the previous year. Expectations for the national economic outlook over the coming 12 months worsened further (-24 vs. -22.5 in January), while the indicator for households’ own financial situation showed a slight easing in pessimism (-1.7 vs. -1.9). At the same time, Portuguese households reported higher inflation expectations (37.7 vs. 33.2).
