French Producer Prices Accelerate in January, Signaling Building Inflation Pressures

France’s producer price index (PPI) picked up pace at the start of the year, with prices rising 0.5% month-over-month in January 2026, up from a 0.3% increase in December 2025. The latest data, updated on 27 February 2026, points to strengthening cost pressures at the factory gate that could filter through to consumer prices in the months ahead.

On a month-over-month basis, the January figure shows that producers faced a faster increase in input and output prices compared with the previous month. The December 2025 reading of 0.3% reflected more moderate growth relative to November, but the January acceleration suggests that pipeline inflation in France may be gaining momentum as the new year begins.

Market participants and policymakers will be watching subsequent releases closely to assess whether this uptick in PPI marks the start of a more sustained trend. Since the “actual” figure represents the change from January to December and the “previous” figure reflects the change from December to November, the back-to-back increases underscore a continued upward trajectory in French producer prices.
