US Producer Inflation Seen Slowing in January

US producer prices are projected to increase 0.3% month-over-month in January 2026, following a 0.5% rise in December. Core PPI—excluding food and energy—is also expected to climb 0.3%, moderating from a 0.7% gain in the prior month. On a yearly basis, headline producer inflation is seen easing to 2.6%—the lowest level in seven months—down from 3% in both December and November. Core producer inflation is likewise forecast to edge down to 3% from 3.3%. Investors will be monitoring the release closely for any signs of tariff-driven price pressures, although the figures are still likely to indicate that such effects remain limited for now.
