Czech Business Confidence Falls to 3-Month Low

The Czech Republic's business confidence indicator experienced a decline for the second month in a row, dropping by 1.2 percentage points to 98.8 in July 2025, down from the previous month's 100. This level represents the lowest confidence reading since April. The dip in overall sentiment can be attributed to decreased confidence within selected services sectors (102 compared to 104.1) and the industrial sector (93.5 compared to 94.5). Conversely, the trade sector saw an improvement in confidence (97.3 up from 94.7), while confidence within the construction sector held steady at 121.2. According to Jirí Obst, head of the CZSO's business cycle surveys department, "Businesses continue to face challenges due to insufficient demand, which is identified as a major impediment to production growth by nearly half of the industry sector respondents and about one-third of those surveyed in construction."
