European Stocks Mixed as Tariff Uncertainty Clouds Outlook

European equities ended Monday’s session mixed. The Stoxx 50 erased early losses to close up 0.3% at 6,150, while the broader Stoxx Europe 600 edged 0.2% lower to 629. Investor sentiment remained cautious amid uncertainty over whether US President Donald Trump’s new 15% tariffs will take effect tomorrow in the UK or the EU.

At the same time, the European Parliament has paused ratification of the US–EU trade agreement reached last July in Scotland, pending clarification on Washington’s next steps. This comes despite assurances from US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer that existing agreements with roughly 20 countries will remain in place.

In corporate news, Novo Nordisk sank more than 15% following disappointing results from a pivotal weight-loss trial, and Victoria PLC fell 6.7% after issuing a Q4 revenue warning. By contrast, Enel surged 6.5% after unveiling €53 billion in planned investments through 2028, while PostNL rose 3% on the back of reaffirmed earnings guidance for 2026.
