The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which reflects freight rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, rose for a third consecutive session on Tuesday, gaining 0.8% to reach 2,129 points—its highest level since January 30. The supramax index advanced 3.2% to 1,217 points, while the panamax index, which typically covers vessels carrying 60,000–70,000 tons of coal or grain, climbed 0.7% to 1,866 points. In contrast, the capesize index, which usually tracks ships transporting about 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, inched down 0.1% to 3,207 points, snapping a two-session winning streak.
