US House Prices Rise Less than Expected: FHFA

US single-family home prices backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac rose 0.1% in December 2025, following an upwardly revised 0.7% increase in November and coming in below market expectations of a 0.3% gain. For the fourth quarter as a whole, prices were up 0.8% from the previous quarter. On a year-over-year basis, home values increased 1.8% between Q4 2024 and Q4 2025.

House prices rose in 41 states, with North Dakota recording the strongest appreciation at 6.4%. Prices declined in nine states and the District of Columbia, with Florida posting the largest drop at 2.7%.
