Conversely, the sales of non-food products declined by 0.3%, undoing the 0.5% growth observed in March. Among the major economies, retail sales posted growth in Spain (0.7%), Italy (0.4%), and France (0.3%), while experiencing declines in Germany (-1.1%) and the Netherlands (-0.4%). Year-on-year, retail trade growth accelerated to 2.3% in April, marking a six-month high from the revised 1.9% in March, and surpassing market predictions of 1.4%.
