Slovakia’s EU-Harmonised Inflation Edges Up to 4.3% in January

Slovakia’s EU-normalised consumer price index (CPI) accelerated slightly at the start of 2026, with year-over-year inflation rising to 4.30% in January from 4.10% in December 2025. The data, updated on 25 February 2026, reflects price changes measured on a harmonised basis across the European Union, enabling direct comparison with other member states.

The latest reading indicates that, compared with January a year earlier, consumer prices in Slovakia increased at a somewhat faster pace than the annual rate recorded in December. The previous figure for December 2025 had also been calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing that month’s prices with those of December a year before.

The modest uptick suggests that inflationary pressures remain persistent rather than easing further, which may be closely watched by policymakers, investors, and businesses assessing the trajectory of price growth in Slovakia and across the broader euro area.
