US Stocks Gain Ahead of Nvidia Earnings

US equities advanced on Wednesday ahead of Nvidia’s earnings report, which investors expect to offer fresh insight into the durability of demand for artificial intelligence. Futures on the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.5%, while Nasdaq 100 futures gained nearly 1%.

Nvidia shares were up 1%, extending the recent strength in chipmakers. The company’s earnings growth is widely anticipated to accelerate further, reinforcing its role as a bellwether for robust AI-related orders and capital expenditure by the “Magnificent 7” mega-cap tech firms. AMD climbed another 1%, adding to Tuesday’s 9% rally after Meta announced a multiyear deal to deploy 6 gigawatts of AMD graphics processing units across its AI-focused data centers.

Software stocks also sustained their rebound as markets reconsidered earlier skepticism over the staying power of legacy service-based business models. Meanwhile, President Trump’s rhetoric around the State of the Union address did not suggest that sweeping higher tariffs on all countries would be an immediate policy priority following the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down the use of IEEPA measures.
