Greece Trade Deficit Narrows in April

In April 2025, Greece's trade deficit decreased to EUR 2.8 billion from EUR 3.0 billion in April of the previous year. The reduction in deficit was influenced by a 14.5% decline in exports, which amounted to EUR 3.8 billion. This downturn was driven by decreased sales both to non-EU countries, which fell by 22.7%, and to EU countries, which saw an 8.2% fall. Concurrently, imports decreased by 11.4% to EUR 6.8 billion, primarily due to a significant 24% reduction in imports from non-EU countries. In contrast, imports from EU countries experienced a modest increase of 1%. Over the first four months of the year, the trade deficit slightly widened to EUR 11.1 billion, compared to EUR 11 billion in the same period of the previous year, as exports fell by 5.1% and imports decreased by 2.9%.
