Retail sales in Slovenia fell by 1.5% year-on-year in January 2026, reversing the 2.4% increase recorded in December and hitting their lowest level since December 2024. Sales of food, beverages, and tobacco declined by 1.4%, after a 1.8% rise in the previous month, while motor fuel sales in specialized stores dropped sharply by 9.2%, compared with a modest 0.5% increase in December. Growth in non-food product sales also weakened, slowing to 1.1% from 3% in the prior month. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales fell by 1.9% in January, following a flat reading in December.
