Montenegro Tourist Arrivals Drop 7.2%

The number of tourist arrivals in Montenegro fell by 7.2% year-on-year to 32,268 in January 2026, following a 7.9% decline in December. Foreign visitors accounted for the bulk of overnight stays in collective accommodation, making up 75.2% of all nights, while domestic tourists represented 24.8%.

Europe remained the dominant source market, contributing 84.7% of all tourists. Within Europe, the largest shares came from Albania (24%), Serbia (18.5%), Russia (7.2%), and Croatia (4.6%). Among non-European markets, the most significant were China (including Hong Kong) with 4.1%, Israel with 3.6%, and the United States with 2.6%.

By type of resort, seaside destinations generated the highest share of overnight stays at 51.5%, followed by mountain resorts with 23%, the capital with 19.8%, and other resorts with 5.7%.
