In December 2025, average weekly earnings for non-farm payroll employees in Canada increased 1.9% year-on-year to C$1,316, following a downwardly revised 2.3% rise in November. The strongest gains were observed in real estate and rental and leasing (up 7.7% to C$1,402); transportation and warehousing (up 6.2% to C$1,395); utilities (up 5% to C$2,037); and forestry, logging and support (up 4.7% to C$1,512). In contrast, the steepest declines were recorded in finance and insurance (down 5.7% to C$1,806) and wholesale trade (down 3.8% to C$1,490).
By province, Prince Edward Island (8.4%) and Manitoba (4.5%) registered the largest year-on-year increases, while the Northwest Territories saw a 4% decrease. On a month-on-month basis, average weekly earnings were virtually unchanged in December.
