Ibovespa Down Amid Fiscal Policy Tension

On Friday, the Ibovespa index experienced a slight decline, struggling to maintain the 136,000 level. Domestically, focus remains on potential adjustments to the proposed increase in the financial transaction tax. According to two sources cited by Reuters, the government might introduce legislation to reduce tax benefits by 10% as a compensatory measure. This issue is expected to be addressed by financial officials at the Esfera Forum. Internationally, the U.S. economy saw an increase of 139,000 nonfarm payrolls in May, surpassing the anticipated 126,000, while the unemployment rate stayed steady at 4.2%, which contributed positively to market sentiment. At the opening of the stock exchange, shares of Petrobras climbed by 1.22%, Vale rose by 0.38%, and stocks of meatpacking companies also advanced. Meanwhile, major banks exhibited mixed trading. Notably, Casas Bahia's shares soared nearly 20% following their announcement of a debt restructuring plan.
