In June 2025, Kosovo experienced a notable expansion in its trade deficit, reaching EUR 498.3 million, compared to EUR 425.4 million during the same period in the previous year. This change was primarily attributed to a 16.0% increase in imports, totaling EUR 578.7 million. The leading categories for imports included mineral products (14.0%), machinery and electrical equipment (13.2%), prepared foods, beverages, and tobacco (13.0%), transport equipment (12.3%), and base metals with their related articles (8.6%). On the other hand, exports grew by a more modest 9.5%, amounting to EUR 80.4 million. The primary export items were base metals and related articles (21.4%), prepared foods (13.0%), plastic and rubber products (12.5%), various manufactured articles (9.8%), and mineral products (6.7%).
