DAX Down for 2nd Day

Frankfurt’s DAX 40 slipped further below the 24,000 mark on Tuesday, extending the previous session’s losses as lingering uncertainty over tariffs and escalating US–Iran tensions continued to weigh on sentiment. At the same time, renewed concerns over the pace and scope of artificial intelligence disruption resurfaced after a report from Citrini Research projected significant AI-driven upheaval by 2028, and Anthropic unveiled a COBOL modernization tool.

Investors also focused on a fresh round of corporate earnings. Fresenius Medical Care slumped more than 7%, sinking to the bottom of the index after the company forecast higher profits for 2025 but flagged largely flat revenue and operating profit for 2026. The outlook marked a departure from its previous performance trajectory and from recently announced cost-cutting initiatives. MTU Aero Engines was another major decliner, dropping 5.2%. The group reported stronger-than-expected profitability in the fourth quarter, but its guidance for 2026 was broadly in line with market expectations, limiting investor enthusiasm.

Broader selling pressure extended to technology and financial stocks. SAP, Deutsche Bank, and Siemens fell 1.8%, 1.7%, and 1.1%, respectively.
