Sensex Rebounds on Tech Strength

India’s BSE Sensex climbed about 1.1% to 72,367 on Friday, staging a rebound from the sharp declines in the previous session that had dragged the benchmark to a 32‑month low. The recovery was led by IT stocks, which drove a technical bounce in the index.

Tata Consultancy Services gained 5.0% after reporting stronger AI‑related revenue and robust growth in its international business for the September quarter. Still, the upside in the broader market was limited by elevated crude oil prices, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and supply risks linked to a hurricane heading toward the US Gulf Coast.

Sentiment was further tempered by fresh US curbs on the green‑card programme for major IT companies, which heightened concerns over rising staffing costs. Persistent foreign investor selling and weakness in the rupee also weighed on the market, with foreign portfolio investors offloading a net 129.44 billion rupees ($1.3 billion) in Indian equities on Thursday—their largest single‑day outflow since May 29.

Among other notable gainers were Infosys (up 3.0%), Apollo Hospitals (3.01%), HDFC Bank (1.3%), Hexaware (9.6%), and Cupid (2.6%).
